BIOGRAPHY
Crepin Kayisire, 23,
is a young Rwandan tech entrepreneur. Currently the co-founder and C.E.O. at
KAYKO, Crepin works full time to develop digital financial solutions to empower
small business owners to spur their growth potential. At KAYKO, we design our
products to meet small business owners where they're at. For many, that means
having little to no credit history or savings. So we use alternative data to
offer financial products that small businesses can access anywhere, without the
hassle of the judgement of traditional institutions.
Crepin and his
brother Kevin started Kayko after recognising that local entrepreneurs in their
community struggled with financial management, resulting in difficulty
accessing loans to grow their businesses. This observation gave them the idea
to create a simple tool that would simplify their accounting and use
authenticated sales data to help merchants access digital loans.
Previously, Crepin
served as Chief Marketing Officer of DMM.HeHe, Rwanda's leading e-commerce
marketplace, led the project that successfully powered over 500 SMEs to expand
into online retail.
Crepin has also
worked closely with N.G.O.s in Rwanda, Austria and Mexico since 2017. He has
received awards and grants for his social initiative Holistic Life, a social
enterprise that empowers rural teen moms to start small businesses.
